What is DKIM?

DomainKeys Identified Mail (DKIM) is an email authentication method that helps prevent scammers from impersonating you. It’s like a secret stamp on your email that proves it really came from you. It helps email servers check that the message is authentic and hasn’t been tampered with while traveling.

How Does DKIM Work?

All email addresses have a domain, which is the address after the @ symbol. Scammers may use that domain to impersonate your center and elicit personal information from clients.

For example, a scammer could send a message to a client under an email that seems to come from “sally@thepregnancycenter.com” to trick her into thinking she works for your center. They could ask for her personal information, which puts her at risk of a privacy breach and your center at risk of a legal attack.

However, emails that are not approved by DKIM are sent straight to the spam folder. With DKIM in place, she will never even see the malicious email. It’s a win-win for everyone, except the scammer!
